USAID Boresha Afya Southern Zone, works to control the HIV epidemic and integrate family planning; tuberculosis; maternal, newborn and child health; malaria; and nutrition services through innovative approaches at all levels and opportunities. Project staff work with the Government of Tanzania to increase access to high quality, comprehensive and integrated health services, focusing on women and youth.
In the regions of Iringa, Lindi, Morogoro, Mtwara, Njombe and Ruvuma, Boresha Afya is tailoring services to optimize the continuum of care and focus on client-centered care, gender and youth to enhance coordination with other programs, civil society organizations and the government. Using integrated approaches at the health facility level, project staff implement data and data-driven interventions, as well as policies, guidelines and protocols, to ensure continuous quality improvement services, such as creating uninterrupted health care supply chains so that patients in these communities receive medications and medical supplies.
