Reports to the Civil & Rail Engineering Manager

Core Job Description: General Masonry and Brick laying works for new constructions including repair and maintenance of existing buildings.

Key Accountabilities

• Providing Masonry and Brick laying services in terms of physical execution of the assigned tasks.
• Ensuring the cement mixes used in the work do not reach their setting time before placed to their final places and make sure the work done is neat and tidy.
• Ensuring a proper curing is done to finished cement works.
• Ensuring that he/she has all the relevant material and tools, or equipment needed for a work to be done before the work is started. There should be a close collaboration with a Foreman or Supervisor assigning the task.
• Keeping and take care of all the working tools or equipment assigned to him/her. Make sure they are safely kept, cleaned immediately after use and should be in good working order all the time.
• ensuring that all material given to him/her are well kept and used economically only for the intended works. All the remaining material from work sites or workshop should be returned to building storekeeper for other uses.
• Ensuring that he/she reports in time to his working place, works diligently, cleans the site before leaving and observes the working hours.

• Ensuring that he/she wears the proper personal protectives for his/her own safety and should observe the safety of others on the workplace.
• Advising superiors in all Masonry and Brick laying works including reporting of the works that are above his/her level for further technical support.
• Performed any other related duties as may be assigned by respective supervisors.

• Should have ability to work alone and in a team.
• Must have relevant skills on Masonry and Brick laying trade.

Remuneration

Good package commensurate with one’ qualifications and experience awaits the successful candidate(s)

Personal Specifications

The Applicant must possess the following qualification: Standard seven (7) or Form 4 Certificate, Trade Test Certificate Level II or I / CBET Level II or III on Masonry and Brick laying from a recognized Institute. Should have at least 2 years working experience in the related field. Knowledge of other trades (Malt skills) will be an added advantage.
