We are delighted to welcome you to the Website of the Tanzania Institute of Adult Education (IAE) and grateful for your interest in getting to know us better.
IAE has come a long way since its founding in early 1960s when it started as a section under the department of extra- mural studies of Makerere University College under the University of London. Then it became part of the University College of Dar Es Salaam in 1963, having more activities including research, Distance Education and training of adult educators. In 1975, IAE was established as an autonomous institution under the then Ministry of National Education, presently called Ministry of Education and Vocational Training (MoEVT).
Since its establishment a number of developments have happened. We have gone through various transformations ranging from offering Basic Education to Higher Education (under NACTE accreditation), from Knowledge Based Education and Training (KBET) orientation to Competence Based Education and Training (CBET) programmes of study, and from fully using print media to relatively electronic technology in offering Open and Distance Learning (ODL) based programmes. These transformations and many other have greatly influenced us to take a new look and improve our institutional website for more improved service delivery to our clients.
