MODE OF JOB APPLICATION




POSITION                  :CHEMICAL AND PROCESS ENGINEER : (1 POST )

REPORTS TO                 :PRINCIPAL ENGINEER

WORK STATION       :KINYEREZI  II GAS PLANT

POSITION OBJECTIVE: 

Responsible for administration of Water Treatment Plant (WTP).Test and analyze water, and all other related samples to determine the physical, chemical and bacteriologic components to comply for Heat recovery steam generators (HRSG)/boilers use.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Responsible for performing / evaluating water analysis tests and determine the proper water treatment required for efficient Heat recovery steam generator/boiler operation

1. Responsible for management of plant waste water treatment system

1. Ensure that equipment works to its specification and appropriate capacities that meets Environmental compliance standards.

1. Responsible for operation and maintenance of water treatment plant equipment i.e. chemical dosing pumps, transfer pumps, bulk storage tanks, demineralized tanks, retention basin facilities, instrument air compressors, piping and electrical systems.

1. Conduct pre-job discussions before start of the equipment maintenance activities.

1. Conduct in-house training to Laboratory Technicians for water treatment plant operation.

1. Collect data required to make improvements and modifications on WTP.

1. Initiate purchase of chemicals for water treatment equipment.

1. Investigate and troubleshoot water treatment plant and waste water treatment system/process problems.

1. Preparation of management reports related to water treatment plant equipment operation & maintenance activities.

1. Ensure safe working conditions and compliance with health and safety legislation.

KEY KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED FOR THE JOB:

• Bachelor of Science in Chemical and process Engineering or relevant Field from a recognized University/Institution

• Must have work experience in large water treatment plant equipment.

• He/she must be registered in relevant professional board.

POSITION                 :TECHNICIAN – BOILER OPERATOR (2 POSTS)

REPORTS TO           :MECHANICAL ENGINEER REPORTING OFFICE

WORK STATION      :KINYEREZI GAS PLANT  II

POSITION OBJECTIVE: 

Responsible for supervision of plant heating systems operations i.e. heat recovery steam generators/boilers and water bath heaters for gas pressure reduction station with special responsibility for minor maintenance of equipment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Operate and maintain plant heat recovery steam generators (HRSG) and its controls.

1. Conduct general operations of Condensate extraction pumps, water feed pumps, motor operated valves, safety valves, relief valves, HP, LP steam drums, Blowdown tanks, blowdown coolers, assorted steam pipe works and its lagging, Steam pressures and temperature gauges.

1. A Continuous Liaise with plant chemical and process engineer to make sure demineralized water supply from water treatment plant to heat recovery steam generators are within the recommended specifications.

1. Maintain a constant awareness of TANESCO’s healthy and safety policy.

KEY KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED FOR THE JOB:

• Ordinary Diploma/Certificate in Boiler operations from recognized institution.
• At least three (3) years’ work experience in operations of steam Boilers.

POSITION OBJECTIVE:

Responsible for installation, repair, operation, and maintenance of Refrigeration & Air Conditioning (AC) equipment/ systems at various buildings of the Plant.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Initiate the requisition for materials required for the optimum operation of the Refrigeration and Air Conditioning equipment.

1. Trouble-shoot Air Conditioning equipment malfunctions, diagnose problems and perform maintenance on Refrigeration & Air Conditioning equipment to ensure optimum operation of the system at the plant.

1. Manage the safety of the Air Conditioning in Plant rooms and workshops by Carrying out preventive maintenance of Refrigeration and Air Conditioning equipment systems.
2. Make minor installation decisions and perform regular cleaning of the equipment

1. Analyses cost for the replacement of any equipment in your area of expertise

1. Maintain job worksheets detailing nature of assignment, parts utilized, time expended and type of work performed and Collect data for reports.

1. Maintain a constant awareness of TANESCO’s healthy and safety policy.

 



KEY KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED FOR THE JOB:

• Diploma in Refrigeration &Air conditioning or equivalent qualifications from reputable Institution.

• At least three (3) years with experience in Heavy Central Air Conditioning Plant.

POSITION OBJECTIVE:

To operate and maintain Water Treatment Plant, Responsible for test and analyze water and other related samples to determine the physical, chemical and bacteriologic components to comply with Heat recovery steam generators (HRSG)/boilers use.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Provide assistance to chemical and process engineer on performing and evaluating water analysis tests and determine the proper water treatment required for efficient Heat recovery steam generator/boiler operation.

1. Responsible for operation and maintenance of plant waste water treatment system.

1. Maintain a best practice knowledge of water chemistry, bacteriology, water quality assurance.

1. Perform routine maintenance on equipment assigned, including the calibration, maintenance, and service of laboratory and process control, instrumentation.

1. Responsible for maintaining and repairing water treatment equipment, including but not limited to pumps, compressors, fans, feeders and filters as assigned.

1. Produce daily reports as necessary and on a regular basis related to water treatment plant to chemical and process engineer.

1. Ensure safe working conditions and compliance with health and safety legislation.

1. Maintain a constant awareness of safe work practices.

KEY KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED FOR THE JOB:

• Ordinary Diploma/Full Technician Certificate in Laboratory Technology from reputable Institution.
• Minimum two years’ work experience in water treatment plants.
