Senior Comic Relief Programme Coordinator
ROLE PURPOSE:
The Senior Comic Relief Programme Coordinator will provide oversight of the daily activities in Mbozi under the direction of the CR Programme Manager based in Dar es Salaam. He/she will represent and advocate for Save the Children’s work and organizational priorities with a range of external parties including local government representatives and the communities of Mbozi District and Songwe Region. The Senior Comic Relief Programme Coordinator will form part of the Mbozi programme team and be a member of the Save the Children in Tanzania Programme Team.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Degree in Education, Social Sciences, International development or business administration.
3 – 5 years of relevant area work experience or equivalent.
Expertise in the thematic area of Education/ECCD and/or Child Protection will be considered a strong asset as well as practical knowledge of child participation methodologies.
Experience in building relationships, fostering interagency and partner coordination and experience of representing an organisation to external parties.
Strong demonstrable skills and experience in programme coordination, monitoring, evaluation, learning and accountability.
Experience of tracking a delegated budget holding, providing feedback on financial phasing, and raising financial issues in a timely manner.
Problem-solving and decision-making skills.
Proven leadership skills – previous experience of line managing staff.
High level report writing skills in English.
Child Protection Technical Specialist
ROLE PURPOSE:
Save the Children is committed to achieving breakthroughs for children in Tanzania, including violence no longer being tolerated against children. Save the Children Tanzania implements child protection programming in five regions of Tanzania, focusing on prevention of violence against children, child protection system strengthening and assisting children who are on the move in a humanitarian setting (Refugee Response). The Child Protection Specialist will advance this work to ensure it is technically sound and in line with the global guidance and relevant Common Aprroaches.
The Child Protection Specialist will provide technical support and leadership to staff and partners, including the Government of Tanzania, drawing on current global evidence, good practices and Save the Children’s standardised approaches. She/he will work with the Director of Program Development and Quality and other technical specialists (Education, Child Rights Governance, Health & Nutrition) to position and grow the child protection portfolio in line with Save the Children Tanzania’s strategic plan for 2019-21.
She/he must bring strong technical leadership, interpersonal and communication skills and a proven track record of working with child protection issues in development and humanitarian settings. The post holder should also have a solid understanding of the child protection sector and government structures (national and local level) in Tanzania and some of the current challenges to enforce, protect and fulfil child rights in the country, linked to national action plans, strategies, tools and stakeholders.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Degree in social sciences related to child protection or related field
At least 5 years of professional experience in Child Protection.
Demonstrable knowledge and experience in child rights and child participation
Knowledge of current national debates on Child Protection policies and practices
Demonstrated experience of developing and managing relationships and funding from donors or other development partners.
Prior experience in a leading role on the development of competitive and complex projects.
Demonstrated experience working with international, national and/or regional level government structures to strengthen the capacity of the government to deliver services.
Proven experience in programme development, project cycle management and monitoring and evaluation related to the sector including writing up high quality project/donor reports.
Proven experience and skills in advocacy and building work relationships with local/national governments and influencing institutional, private and/or corporate donors.
Solid experience and excellent skills in leading and building capacity of systems, staff, partners and other actors related to CP.
Ability to extensively travel for project monitoring and provide on-site technical support to field teams.
Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills including influencing, negotiation and coaching.
Ability to present complex information in a succinct and compelling manner.
Experience of building personal networks, resulting in securing new opportunities for the organisation.
Experience solving complex issues through analysis, definition of a clear way forward and ensuring buy-in of others.

Save the Children Tanzania implements Health and Nutrition programming in six regions of Tanzania, focusing on Maternal Newborn Health, Mother Infant Young Child Nutrition, and Child Health. In previous years, Save the Children’s portfolio has also included work in the areas of HIV/AIDS and Adolescent Health.
The Health and Nutrition Specialist will advance our work by ensuring Save the Children’s work in Tanzania is in line with global standards, national policies/guidelines, is technically sound and that we apply evidenced-based approaches to improving children’s and women’s health. The Health and Nutrition Specialist will provide this technical support to staff and partners, including the Government of Tanzania. She/he will work with the Director of Program Development and Quality and other technical specialists (Education, Child Rights Governance, Child Protection) to position and grow the Health and Nutrition portfolio in line with Save the Children Tanzania’s strategic plan for 2019-21.
The Health and Nutrition Specialist must be willing to embrace a child rights programming approach. She/he must bring strong technical leadership, interpersonal and communication skills as well as a proven track record of working on a range of Health and Nutrition issues in development settings. The post holder should also have a solid understanding of the Health and Nutrition sector and government structures (national and local level) in Tanzania and able to represent Save the Children in national forums and working groups.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
A Health or Nutrition programming professional with a Master’s Degree in public health, health professions, medicine, nutrition or equivalent and relevant field.
Significant professional experience, at least 5 years, of working at a senior advisory level in Health and Nutrition for international NGOs, government or the private sector in Tanzania.
Excellent understanding of the Health and Nutrition sector within the Tanzanian context, particularly issues related to children, newborn child survival and nutrition.
Clear understanding of the intersection of Health and Nutrition with other thematic areas, including nutrition, child protection, education, WASH and child poverty in Tanzania.
Proven representation and advocacy skills.
Strong commitment to capacity building of national staff and partners with willingness to adopt participatory and consultative approaches.
Experience with Health and Nutrition programming in humanitarian settings highly desirable.
Experience writing donor funding proposals for large institutional grants in excess of US$1 million.
Strong report writing skills and ability to compile narrative sections for proposals and donor reports.
Good interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate and negotiate clearly and effectively at all levels, taking into account cultural and language difficulties.
