Dar es Salaam. Over 600 students who had their selection cancelled by the University of Dar es Salaam (UDSM) Admissions Office due to overcapacity in some programmes have a reason to smile as Education, Science, Technology and Vocational Training minister Joyce Ndalichako has reinstated them.

Prof Ndalichako said today, October 22, that she had instructed the Tanzania Commission for Universities and the UDSM management to ensure all students were accommodated according to their interests.

“It doesn’t make sense for a government institution such as UDSM to terminate some selected students due to overcapacity. I ordered UDSM on Saturday to rescind its decision. I will be having a meeting at UDSM at 2:00pm to see whether my instruction has been heeded,” she said.

The UDSM Admissions office had sent a message, which went viral on social media, informing some students about the cancellation.
