Position Summary
Ifakara is looking for a qualified and experienced individuals to fill the vacant positions of Research Officers who will work as Field Interviewers in Lindi region. The Research Officer will be required to collect qualitative data for iPTI project.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Collect data for iPTI project (feasible and acceptability module).
- Conduct in depth interviewers (Health facility, Community and District level).
- Conduct Focus group Discussions (community).
- Ensure accuracy of data collected.
- Follow all research ethics.
- Transcript and translation of data collected.
- Perform any additional task by the PL and/or site director of IHI and/or director of SFDRH
- when necessary.
Qualification and Experience
- Bachelor degree of social sciences or any related qualifications from recognized Institution.
- Minimum of 1-3 years’ experience in qualitative research and data collection.
Skills and Competencies
- Fluent in both Swahili and English.
- Computer skills.
- Skills in qualitative collection and data management (collection, handling and record keeping).
- Excellent skills in problem solving and team work.
- Effective communication skills.
- Professional attitude with high level of integrity.
- Able to meet deadlines.
- Good command on the use of electronic gadgets (Tape recorder and Tablet).

Position: Field Workers (2-posts)

Ifakara is looking for a qualified and experienced individuals to fill the vacant positions of Field worker who will work as a technician in the Insectary testing laboratory Bagamoyo and perform mosquito rearing, mosquito preparation for specified experiments including dissection whenever necessary. Also,
He/she will be responsible for cleanness in the testing laboratory and maintain equipment and facilities in good condition.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Ensure all mosquito rearing work is performed under GLP with a set of SOPs provided.
- Perform net cutting and wash as per GLP requirement.
- Maintain equipment and facilities as dictated by set of standard operating procedures
- Check regular if equipment’s are in appropriate working order.
- Regularly check room temperature recording and reporting malfunctions to the supervisor.
- Maintain cleanliness of the test room at all time.
- Obtain experiment supplies and keep record as required.
- Learn and perform mosquito dissection whenever necessary.
- Participate in the mosquito sorting and preparation for specified experiments.
- Attend any training that is required by the role.
- Record keeping in data collection.
- Carry out additional duties as assigned by supervisor.
Qualification and Experience
Certificate in secondary education/Certificate in primary education with two years’ experience may be considered.
Skills and Competencies
- He/She expected to maintain high standard of conduct and time keeping.
- Must have good insectary laboratory practice.
- Safely working with pesticides.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision.

Position Summary
Ifakara is looking for a qualified and experienced individual to fill the vacant position of Research Scientist at the District Entomology project in Ifakara. The Research Scientist will be required to publish manuscript in internationally recognized journals, apply research proposals for funding, supervise students, prepare project reports and conduct presentations at institutional level of international level when required.
Duties and Responsibilities

- Maintain constant liaison and engagement with community members in the study areas to ensure smooth running of project activities.
- Ensure that all relevant institutional, national and international regulations regarding scientific research are adhered to during the course of all project activities.
- Ensure smooth working relationship between the project (project staff) and other projects within the institute.
- Supervise research interns working with the team.
- Supervise the technical staff, volunteers and field workers working within the project.
- Ensure that all relevant quality control procedures and ethical guidelines are adhered to and that any deviations are properly documented and reported during all project activities and in accordance with requirements of good experimental practices.
- Report on progress and outcomes of the project from time to time, by way of electronic or printed periodic reports, institutional presentations and relevant scientific conferences, where feasible.
- Write and publish high quality scientific papers on your research work in peer reviewed and internationally recognized journals.
- Perform any other duties as may be assigned by the project leader.
Qualification and Experience
- MSc Public Health in Research.
- Working experience of two (2) years.

Position Summary
Ifakara is looking for a qualified and experienced individual to fill the vacant position of Data officer who will work at IHI insectary Bagamoyo to maintain data in the computerized system, perform routine data management on the flow of data from the respective field/ Insectary Activities, and help on data programming, cleaning and data analysis in the projects and support the PI and other staff in managing and interpreting data.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide programming support to projects for electrotonic questionnaire design and deployment.
- Configure server and computer peripherals.
- Analyze data received from field sites.
- Ensure that all raw data generated are fully documented and recorded.
- Assist in writing the final report and ensure the validity of the data in compliance with principles of GLP.
- Prepare and present oral and written reports as required by SD or TFM.
- Travel to the field sites to perform technical troubleshooting, solution implementations or provide supervision.
- Assist and train users in the usage and settings of project tablet and computers.
- Manage and updating VCPTU server.
- Ensure that computerized systems used in the study have been validated.
- Perform other duties assigned by project leader and test facility manager.
Qualification and Experience
Bachelor Degree in science and informatics.

Position Summary
Ifajara is looking for a qualified and experienced individual to fill a vacant position of Research Officer who will work as a medical doctor at CDCI Cohort which is run in collaboration with Ifakara Health Institute and Saint Francis Referral Hospital (SFRH) in Ifakara. The research officer will be required to treat, evaluate, diagnose and manage patients with HIV and or tuberculosis in the in- and outpatient facilities of the SFRH. The officer will also be required to deliver improved services in collaboration with the hospital, governmental authorities and collaborate within the existing research platform of the Kilombero and Ulanga Antiretroviral Cohort (KIULARCO) to develop an own research agenda and research project(s).
Duties and Responsibilities

- Treat PLHIV and/or Tuberculosis according to National Guidelines for Clinical Management of HIV/AIDS and TB, Standard Treatment Guidelines, and Local guidelines.
- Diagnose and treat opportunistic infections (OI) and/or referral to appropriate departments.
- Maintain proper patient documentation, filling of case report forms (CRF) including CTC 1/2.
- Consultation and ward rounds to PLHIV admitted to different departments at SFDRH.
- Working in full agreement with the job descriptions; CDCI, Hospital, and government (MOHSW) regulations.
- Provide health education and adherence counseling to PLHIV and clients attending CDCI.
- Attend all compulsory meetings on Monday, to Friday at CDCI clinic and SFDRH clinical ha.
- Attend scientific meetings at Ifakara Health Institute (IHI).
- Contribution in planning, coordination, and performance of research activities/studies organized by IHI and other partners.
- Any additional task by the PL and/or site director of IHI and/or director of SFDRH when necessary.
Qualification and Experience
- Degree of Doctor of Medicine (MD) / Bachelor of Medicine.
- Certificate of Internship.
