UDSM Volunteering Opportunities
The University of Dar es Salaam through the College of Natural and Applied Sciences (CoNAS) has established a programme to support teaching of Mathematics, Physics, Biology and Chemistry in selected secondary schools in Dar es Salaam.
This programme was established after realizing that some schools face critical shortage of teachers in these subjects. Initially, the programme will begin with few schools in Dar es Salaam and later on more schools will be supported.
Therefore, CoNAS is inviting qualified University of Dar es Salaam BSc. (Education) graduates to apply as volunteer teachers of Mathematics and Science subjects in selected Secondary Schools in
Dar es Salaam.
Duration of the Teaching Support
The duration for teaching is three months, effective from April 2021.
Volunteer’s Eligibility Requirements
The eligible applicant is required to have the following:
- A Bachelor degree in Science with Education in any of the following in his/her subject’s combination: Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry and Biology.
- Should not be employed elsewhere.
- Should have reliable accommodation in Dar es Salaam.
- Should have completed his/her bachelor degree within the past four years
Number of Volunteers
The programme announces 16 positions of volunteers who will be divided in four selected schools in Dar es Salaam.
Application Procedures
Applicants meeting the eligibility requirements should send a one-page application letter together with Curriculum Vitae (maximum two pages);
a copy of Bachelor’s degree transcript; a copy of Bachelor’s degree certificate;

Shortlisted applicants will be informed on the date to attend an oral interview via their email addresses and phone numbers.
Application Deadline
The deadline for submission of application is two weeks from the date of announcement (17th March 2021). Female candidates are highly encouraged to apply.
Financial Support
Successful applicants will be provided with a token financial support to enable them to undertake the task.
