The Regional Manager TANROADS – Arusha, on behalf of the Chief Executive, TANROADS intends to recruit qualified and competent Tanzanians to fill various vacant posts on specific contracts within the Region.
Applications are invited from suitably qualified and competent Tanzanians to fill various vacancies in the region at its Kimokouwa Weighbridge Station at Longido District and Regional Manager’s Office.
POSITION TITLE: ACCOUNTS ASSISTANT (3 POSTS)
Educational/Professional qualifications: –
- A National Form IV/VI certificate;
- Holder of Diploma in Accountancy from any recognized Learning Institution; or equivalent qualification recognized by NBAA (ATEC II);
- Age Limit: Not above 35 years of age
- Computer Literate (at least Certificate in Computer Applications);
- Must be fluent in Kiswahili and English languages;
- Must be a Tanzanian Citizen.
Duties and Responsibilities: –
- Collecting all weighbridge charges (fees) according to weighbridge report form;
- Seeking current USD exchange rates issued by Bank of Tanzania for the case of imposing charges that are equivalent to Tanzania shillings and keep exchange rate records;
- Timely filing all necessary records timely and keep register area neat:
- Report all matters to the Shift in charge;
- Performing other duties as may be assigned from time to time by Shift in Charge /

POSITION TITLE: DRIVER (6 POSTS)
Educational/Professional qualifications: –
- Holder of Form IV Certificate and a Valid Driving License Class C1 or E
- Must be attended a driving course offered by VETA or National Institute of Transport (NIT);
- Fluent in both Swahili and English;
- Work Experience: At least 3 years cumulative experience in the relevant post with no records of road accidents;
- Possession of at least Trade Test Grade ll/Level II in Motor Vehicle Maintenance/Mechanical is an added advantage;
Duties and responsibilities: –
- To drive Agency motor vehicles towards approved destinations and in accordance with traffic regulations;
- To undertake minor mechanical repairs;
- To take vehicles due for routine maintenance /repair to the appointed service agent;
- To maintain motor vehicle logbooks;
- To make pre-inspection to the assigned vehicle prior to travelling and report mechanical damages/defects;
- To ensure the safety and cleanliness of the vehicle at all times.
- To deliver and collect mail and goods;
- To report promptly accidents or incidents involving the vehicle to the relevant authority;
- To perform other duties as may be assigned from time to time by Supervisor.

POSITION TITLE: OFFICE ASSISTANT (1 POST)
Educational/Professional qualifications: –
- Holder of a Form IV Certificate;
- Must be fluent in Kiswahili and preferably be able to communicate in English;
- Must be a Tanzanian Citizen;
- Holder of certificate in office attendant/Basic cleaning will be an added advantage
Duties and responsibilities: –
- Cleaning offices, washrooms and office premises;
- Preparing and serving tea, coffee and refreshments;

POSITION TITLE: TECHNICIAN (1 POST) – MATERIALS
Duties and responsibilities: –
- Assist in providing support to all projects with regard to road construction materials sourcing and qualify control assignments;
- Initiate payments for Laboratory costs of the projects and prepare reconciliation statements for the same;
- Monitors the quality, general limits and test result;
- Ensures that all laboratory assets and equipment are maintained in good order and are calibrated as and when necessary;
- Records and reports on all test results;
- Carries out in situ testing and takes site samples;
- Measures and certifies for payment contract works;
- Prepares reports for the Laboratory as required;
- Manages the laboratory stores;
- Performs other related duties as may be assigned by the supervisor;

POSITION TITLE: WEIGHBRIDGE OPERATOR (6 POSTS)
Educational/Professional qualifications: –
- A National Form IV/VI certificate;
- Holder of Full Technician Certificate or Ordinary Diploma in Civil; Mechanical, Automobile or Electrical Engineering (FTC) from any recognized learning institution
- Age Limit: Not above 35 years
- Must be Computer literate (at least Microcomputer Applications);
- Must be fluent in both written and spoken Kiswahili and English Languages:
- Must be Tanzanian Citizen
Duties and Responsibilities
- Carrying out activities as described in the EAC Vehicle Load Control Act of 2016 and its Regulations of 2017 which include the following; Weighing motor vehicles gross vehicle weight (GVW) > 3,500kg plying on our public roads.
- Enforcing Axle Load Control by the use of weighbridge scale devices;
- Imposing road damage fees on the spot for overloaded vehicles;
- Measuring physical dimensions of a motor vehicle or any load being carried on the motor vehicle for providing advice to the transporter for provision of relevant advice.
- Recording all necessary particulars regarding the motor vehicle being weighed;
- Observing good customer care, dignity and integrity;
- Reporting all matters to the shift in charge;
- Performing other duties as may be assigned from time to time by the Shift In-charge/Supervisor;

POSITION TITLE: WEIGHBRIDGE SHIFT IN-CHARGE (3 POSTS)
Educational/Professional qualifications: –
- Any bachelor degree recognized by higher learning institutions
- A National Form IV/VI certificate;
- Age limit: between 35-40 years inclusive;
- Must be Computer literate, at least computer Applications;
- Must be fluent in both written and spoken Kiswahili and English Languages:
- Must be Tanzanian Citizen
- Must be self-motivated, able to work under pressure outside working hours with minimum supervision
Duties and responsibilities: –

POSITION TITLE: LAND SURVEYOR (1 POST)
Educational/Professional qualifications: –
- Must have a Bachelor Degree in land surveying or equivalent from any recognized Higher Learning Institution/colleges;
- Must be a Registered Land Surveyor by respective Professional Board
- Must have served as a Land Surveyor in at least three (3) road construction projects of the similar magnitude and complexity in the last five (5) years;
- A National Form IV/VI certificate;
- Must be Computer literate at least computer Applications;
- Proficiency in written and spoken English is mandatory;
- Must be a Tanzanian Citizen;
Duties and responsibilities: –
- Prepare and maintain sketches, maps, reports, and legal descriptions of surveys in order to describe, certify, and assume liability for work performed.
- Review of survey data for accuracy, including measurements and calculations conducted at survey sites.
- Direct or conduct surveys in order to establish legal boundaries for properties.
- Record the results of surveys, including the shape, contour, location, elevation, and dimensions of land or land features.
- Search legal records, survey records, and land titles in order to obtain information about property boundaries in areas to be surveyed.
- Coordinate findings with the engineers, clients, and others concerned with the projects.
- Adjust surveying instruments in order to maintain their accuracy.
- Establish fixed points for use in making maps, using geodetic and engineering instruments.
- Determine longitudes and latitudes of important features and boundaries in survey areas,

POSITION TITLE: ENGINEER (1 POST) – CIVIL
Educational/Professional qualifications: –
- Must have a Bachelor Degree in Civil Engineering/Highway Engineering/Transportation Engineering or equivalent from any recognized Higher Learning Institution;
- Must be a Registered Engineer from a respective professional Board;
- Must be Computer literate at least computer Applications;
- Proficiency in written and spoken English is mandatory;
- Must be a Tanzanian Citizen;
Duties and responsibilities: –
- Supervision of the works to ensure compliance with technical specification requirements;
- Ensure the implementation of the QA/QC procedures in the project. The entire Quality Checklist is to be effectively implemented;
- Keeping all records including reports, works diaries, correspondence, instructions given to contractor(s), and any other matter relating to drainage structures on day to day basis.
- Measuring quantities of road works satisfactorily carried out on daily basis;
- Preparation and submission of mini progress report with the updated cost of Road works on a daily basis;
- Maintaining a site diary on a daily basis with the contents and format to be agreed with Employer;
- Ensure that all materials supplied and procured to the site conform to the approved samples.
- Identify the non-conforming material and mark it rejected and segregate from the Approved material;
- Evaluate approval options based on quality, cost-effectiveness efficiency of service, business standards and other factors for the purpose of meeting or exceeding the required standards;

POSITION TITLE: TECHNICIAN (1 POST) – CIVIL
Educational/Professional qualifications: –
- Holder of Full Technician Certificate (FTC – Civil), Ordinary Diploma in Civil or Highway Engineering from any recognized learning institution;
- Registered as Civil Technician with ERB
- Must be computer literate;
- Served as Civil Technician or an equivalent Capacity on at least three (2) in road construction projects;
- Self-motivation, able to work under pressure outside working hours with minimum supervision;
- Proficiency in written and spoken English is mandatory;
- Must be a Tanzanian Citizen;
Duties and responsibilities: –
- Inspect and reports the condition of the designated roads on weekly basis or at more frequent intervals if required;
- Supervises work programmes for the main contractor and Labour base contractors undertaking routine/ recurrent, periodic, and emergency maintenance works within the designed roads or as directed;
- Supervises bridge maintenance works as per annual programmes;
- Measure and keep records of daily work done on-site;
- Certify worksheets, delivery notes and similar documentation as directed by Maintenance Engineer;
- Prepare daily, weekly and monthly progress reports as required;
- Coordinate and Supervise quality control requirements;
- Keep and maintain daily site diaries;
- Coordinate, supervise and manage road reserve related activities such as preventing encroachment, installation of billboards, utilities and facilitation of permits for temporary use of road reserve;
- Report immediately any issue that requires the attention of the Maintenance Engineer;
- Supervise enforcement of Road Act No. 13 of 2007 and its Regulation of 2009.
- Perform other related duties as may be assigned by the supervisor.
